Distribution Clerk

Position summary

  • Location: London Heathrow
  • Full Time: 4 on 4 off 09:00 – 21:00
  • Reports to: Air Freight Manager

 

  • Facilitate the movement of freight from arrival on site to customer delivery in accordance with organizational policy and procedure
  • Manage the necessary documentation relating to product distribution. Ensure systems are maintained and information is stored correctly
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers, as necessary to ensure an efficient distribution and storage process is maintained
  • Liaise with the warehouse team to ensure the swift movement of freight through our facility.

Responsibilities

  • Documentation and Records: Prepare collection and delivery notes in accordance with daily arrivals and distribution lists.
  • Communication: Liaise with customers regarding product arrival and inspections. Provide customer Cargo Tracking: Monitor and track shipments throughout the transportation process, providing real-time updates to clients and internal teams.
  • Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve any shipment-related issues, such as delays, damages, or customs clearance/ DEFRA challenges.
  • Customer Service: Answer telephone calls, resolve customer queries , serve collecting drivers with tickets upon arrival

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in warehousing/logistics
  • Experience with perishable goods/food stuff is an advantage
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software and applications.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Distribution Clerks often encounter challenges such as qualityissues, transportation delays, or documentation discrepancies. They should be adept at identifying problems and finding solutions quickly.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication is essential when interacting with clients, carriers, customs authorities, and internal teams. Clear and concise communication helps ensure smooth operations and client satisfaction.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients is key to client retention and business growth. Providing exceptional customer service ensures clients are satisfied with the distribution process.
  • Team Player: Collaborating with colleagues in various departments, such as warehouse , customs , and transportation is common in this role. Being a team player fosters smooth coordination within the organization.
  • Resilience: The logistics industry can be demanding and may require working under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Being resilient and able to handle stress is important for job performance
